Sailing 2025

Athene Cup 11th October 2025

The final event for the punts this year. Many more competitors took part this year. However the sun didn’t oblige and the wind was very light. But it was a good atmosphere and there was lots of cake (as always) Click this link to see all the photos or click on one of the images below.

Last Sunday Sailing 2025 September 28th

Sunday Sailing 21st September 2025

Only three boats out today so just a few pictures. Unpredictable wind and a few light showers. My thanks to those who took part. Click here for more pictures

Barton Regatta 25th August 2025 Monday pictures

The light winds endured by crews over the weekend gave way to something a bit more positive and by the time we got to the prizegiving, it was having a really good blow! Click here to see more pictures or click on one of the photographs below.

Barton Regatta 24th August 2025 Sunday pictures

These concentrate on life on the pontoon – in the middle of the Broad – including the tea hut, officers’ box and the committee boat, which on this occasion was located on the pontoon! These photographs show what a cruiser race is like from the position on one of the boats taking part. My thanks go to Brian Wilkins and his crew on Catspaw for allowing me on board to take the shots. Barton Regatta 23rd August 2025 Saturday pictures

Punt Championships 16-17th August 2025

More Punts than ever entered this year for Punt Champs. Saturday weather was great – not too hot- some sunshine- plenty of wind. Sunday was a bit gloomy from time to time, but at least the rain held off

Sunday sailing (in the rain) at the Norfolk Punt Club 3rd August

It was good to see a number of boats out on this not very promising weather day. We tried – we toiled, but it was a bit of an effort against the imminent rail. In the end, it did and we looked forward to a cuppa and cakes in the tea hut.

There are a few more images on the storage site – click here or on one of the pictures to access them.

Jubilee Bowl – Sunday racing 27th July

Jubilee Bowl is an Allcomers race with a bit of a difference – the helm and crew have to swap over at the start of the second lap and only boats where this is observed by the race officers are eligible for the trophy. Some pictures here were shot before and during the race and during the following race which began with a Le Mans style start. Click here or on one of the images to see the entire collection.

Yare & Bure One Design and Keel Boat Open Barton Broad Saturday and Sunday 14th – 15th June.

Two days with very different weather. Photographs are not posted in any particular order but the two Sunday starts were photographed with the drone. Click here to see all the photographs or click on one of the images below.

PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN AT ACLE

Acle bridge as always proved a challenge for some crews – click here to see all the Acle images or click on one of the photographs below

Terrific skills shown by the crews in order to negotiate this pair of bridges. Click here to see all the pictures

Sunday sailing 18th May 2025

It was a bright day with plenty of sun , but oh boy that wind was cold. I ventured out to take shots and check out two cameras which had been playing up. The racing was good among the White Boats and I think the Punt sailors had a good time as well. No spectacular photographs but a few pleasant pictures – click here or on one of the photographs below to visit the Flickr site where they are stored.
